Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does this come with a battery?

Our "tool only" model (WG320.9) does not come with a battery and charger. As a part of our 20V Powershare program, "tool only" models allow you to customize your tool box without buying more batteries and chargers than you need. Add any tools you need, but use the 20V Worx batteries and chargers you already have. Powershare lets you share the battery and save money!

  • How much does the JawSaw weigh?

The Worx JawSaw weighs 7.1 pounds without the battery, about the same as a gallon of milk. Not only is the weight balanced for the best ergonomic experience for our users, the innovative jaw design helps support the weight of the tool and make it easy to use when cutting overhead branches.

  • I’ve seen the JawSaw described as battery-operated and electric. Which is correct?

We have two versions of the JawSaw, so they are both correct. The WG320.9 model is a cordless tool compatible with our 20V MaxLithium batteries. Our electric JawSaw is model number WG307 and can be found here.

  • What is the largest branch that the JawSaw can cut?

The JawSaw can handle branches up to 4" in diameter.

  • What is the chain speed?

The no load speed for the Jawsaw is 1350 rpms.

  • Does the JawSaw come pre-assembled?

Yes, the Worx JawSaw comes fully assembled. Just oil the chain as instructed in the manual, install a fully charged battery, and you’re ready to work!

  • What kind of oil do I use on the JawSaw?

To oil the chain, use a winter-weight bar and chain oil which is available in most hardware stores or stores that sell chainsaws.

  • How can I prevent oil leakage?

With a saw designed to self-lubricate during operation, a little oil leakage is normal. To help minimize and prevent leakage, we recommend the following:

-Use only enough oil for the task at hand.

-Remove oil cap and immediately replace it after operation to vent the oil tank. This relieves any accumulated pressure during the oiling process.

-Allow the saw to cool down before storing.

-Wipe down the saw sprocket area.

-Remove oil from saw before storage.

-Store the saw horizontally when not in use.

  • What is that red thing attached to my JawSaw’s cord used for?

That is the service key, which puts the JawSaw in "service mode" and prevents it from accidentally operating. When in service mode, the bar and chain can be removed & the chain can be tightened.

  • How do I sharpen the chain?

If you want to sharpen the chain yourself, we recommend the Oregon 25894 5/32” file with guide, and the Oregon 27742 Depth gauge and file guide, for the best results. You can also check with local hardware stores for professional sharpening services.

  • How do I buy a replacement bar or chain?

Both the bar (WA0162) and chain (WA0161) are available under Accessories.

    JawSaw 6” Replacement Chain

    JawSaw 6” Replacement Chainsaw Bar

  • How many chain links are on the JawSaw chain?

There are 42 links on the JawSaw chain.

  • What other types of replacement chain should I use?

Because of the unique design of the Worx JawSaw, we only recommend using the Worx replacement chain.

  • I saw an extension pole as an available accessory. Is this required for using the JawSaw?

The JawSaw can be used with or without the extension pole. The extension pole is designed to help reach branches up to 12’ high and can be quickly and easily attached or detached depending on how you need to use the JawSaw.

  • There are two different extension poles. How do I know which one is right for my JawSaw?

There is an extension pole for the electric JawSaw and one for the battery-operated version. Be sure to select the type of extension pole that matches your JawSaw:

WA0169 Extension pole for Cordless/Battery-operated JawSaw (model WG320)

WA0163 Extension pole for Electric JawSaw (model WG307)

  • What is the weight of the tool with the Extension pole?

The total weight of the JawSaw and extension pole is 11.6 pounds.

  • What is the length of the JawSaw and the Extension Pole?

Jawsaw is 33 inches (or 2 ft 9 inches) and the Pole is 61.5 inches (or 5 ft 1.5 inches) in length. When used together, the total length is around 7 ft 9 inches.

  • If the total length of the JawSaw and extension pole is less than 8’, how can they reach up to 12’?

Working directly overhead is never a safe option when trimming limbs from trees, so the calculation isn’t based on direct reach. Since the safest way to approach tree trimming would be standing away from the branch being cut and reaching up at an angle, the total reach factors in the average height of the person using the tool as at least 4’. When standing at the base of the tree and reaching with the JawSaw at an angle, the average user can cut branches at a height of 12 or more feet.

  • Why do I have to pay s&h on the extension pole accessory?

The extension pole comes pre-assembled making the box an oversized box in length and therefore cost extra to ship.

  • Are there any precautions I should follow?

Carefully review the owner’s manual for all safety information and guidelines for the JawSaw. Follow safety precautions while using any power tools – including wearing safety eyewear, gloves, appropriate shoes & clothing, and keeping hair tied back. See the owner’s manual for complete safety instructions and details.

Men's Journal

"When the WORX JawSaw debuted, we praised it as a safer, smarter chain-saw alternative. Its steel teeth hold branches up to four inches wide while an enclosed six-inch blade makes clean, quick cuts without endangering limbs. The latest iteration, the 20V 2.0, is even better, powered by a lithium-ion battery good for 20 minutes of cord-free use."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Medium Duty Saw Ever Before this tool, I was using an 18" chainsaw. After unpacking, I cut a 3" practice branch. WOW! Sliced through it like butter. No set up time, No adjustments...just a nice quiet perfect cut. Since, I've trimmed a couple of trees, and I don't know how I lived without it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Toy Just bought this about a week ago and have used it to prune a couple of trees in my back yard. Great tool for small jobs around the yard especially for getting rid of dead limbs under the tree canopy. I like it so much that I ordered the extension pole yesterday for trimming limbs a bit higher up. Being left handed, it is a little bit awkward but nothing I can't work around. Can't wait for my long pole to arrive (THSS).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Tool! I bought this tool a few weeks ago. I have tons of trees in my yard constantly dropping sticks. Usually I have a big stick pile going in my yard - but not anymore. This tool is so convenient - I take it out in the yard with me and cut them with the push of the handle. Being able to cut them right in the yard against the ground is incredible. I have used this just about everyday. Every single person I have showed this to is amazed at the ease and complete convenience of this tool. If you have trees this is a must!!! If you like to have fires like I do - this is also a must - just perfect for cutting up the smaller stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from JawSaw I have bought two of these now. I love them both. No gas to mix or spill. Handy for cutting small sucker trees or low hanging limbs around the mower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and convenient Cordless feature enables you to move the chainsaw around to cut branches above or on the ground without worrying about cutting the cord. I previously used the corded version and cutting the cord was always a concern. No difference in power using cordless version. Easily cut branches down to size to bundle for yard waste pickup or to put in bags for pickup. Occasionally have to clean out area around the chain if twigs or leaves build up inside the jaw housing. Weight of jawsaw is not too heavy during normal use, but over extended period of use, if can begin to feel heavy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing!!! I am amazed how my cordless JawSaw cuts thru larger limbs of trees and shrubs. The battery life is amazing, I have cut 9 rather large limbs on this pine tree, plus cut the limbs so they fit in my recycle pile and it still has plenty on juice left in the battery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Chain Saw I bought this Jawsaw to do some prunning of trees. I'm 69 years old and using this was a piece of cake. I loved the action, how it holds the branch and how great the saw does the job. I had to show my son how great this works and he thought this is the greatest, too cool! I highly recommend this Jawsaw, believe me, you won't regret your purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful and Easy to Use! I just purchased a new WORX 20V Jaw Saw Cordless Chainsaw, and like all of the other WORX tools I have, it is everything I had come to expect. For cutting limbs up to 4 inches in diameter it is a Safe and Easy job. Cuts like a full size Chain Saw, but is much easier to use and no safety issues since the chain is enclosed. I am ordering the Jaw Saw 5 Foot Extension Pole to go with it, then I can get to those higher limbs with ease. I Highly Recommend the Cordless Jaw Saw as another Great WORX Cordless tool! Try it, what have you got to lose...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool for cutting brush and small trees. I have the corded tool, but am limited in use because of distance from an outlet. I like the idea that I can use it anywhereIt has a surprising amount of power for a battery operated tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it is intended to do. I have been using the 20 volt JawSaw to cut down and cut up 2" to 4" saplings. There is enough power to handle this job with ease. I get about 20 minutes of run time on a single charge doing continuous cutting. It is lightweight enough that my wife enjoys using it. We are both in our mid sixties so just about anyone can use this tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it!! Love it!!! Bought the 20V cordless Jawsaw. Have used it twice in the past couple of weeks. Was surprised how long my old 20V batteries lasted. The Jawsaw has enough power to cut through any log, or branch. Very easy to use. I’m 68 years old. Have never used a “regular” chain saw before. The safety features are great on the Jawsaw! The Jawsaw is my 5th WORX tool or accessory I’ve owned. Have NEVER had a problem with any of them. When I work in the yard with all of my WORX tools, I feel like I’m doing a commercial!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Easy To Use We had been using an electric chain saw that was fairly heavy and had the cord to contend with and keep out of the way. When I saw this Worx Saw advised it looked like it would be an improvement. Shortly after purchase we had one of trees damaged by straight line winds and had a lot of limbs and branches in our front yard. At first use I was a little disappointed, but once I got the hang of this saw it was a pleasure to use. You just have to know when and what to push. Granted, the old electric saw will still be needed for the very large hunks of downed trees, but the Worx will be just fine for 90% of of our needs. This thing is really clever and will be a great, flexible time saver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have been looking at the jawsaw for about a year. I recently purchased the jawsaw tool only, at a great price, I already had the battery and charger needed to operate the saw. I was skeptical at first over the electric vs. battery, but really wanted the cordless, so I went with it. I am oh so happy that I did. The jawsaw works just as the product is advertised. I can't compare the power of the electric vs. the cordless, but I can't see how it could be better. I did throw the chain off one time, but it was a quick fix. It made light work out of trimming the limbs in an extremely safe manner. I have no regrets in the purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best saw ever. I have had this product for a few years now, I use it most of the time that I need a saw. The best for those trees that are close to fences and structures.
