Kim Toscano Reviews the MAKERX Airbrush

The New MAKERX™ Airbrush Goes Anywhere You Create

By Kim Toscano

Part of the new go-anywhere series of crafting tools from Worx®, the MAKERX™ Airbrush combines power and portability so you can take the Airbrush anywhere you create – from the kitchen to the workshop to the dressing room. The MAKERX system includes five compact crafting tools powered by a 20V Battery Power Hub, including a rotary tool, angle grinder, mini heat gun, wood and metal crafter, and airbrush.

I tested the MAKERX Airbrush on several projects to see how it performs in the woodshop and hobby room. The double action trigger provides control over paint delivery, so I can create fine lines or broad strokes with ease. The nozzle size balances precision work with versatility. With an ergonomic design and weighing just half a pound, I found the Airbrush easy to use – even for my small hands.

Double Action Airbrush for Better Control

Whether you are lettering t-shirts or painting scale models, you’ll appreciate the MAKERX Airbrush’s double action trigger, which separates air and paint flow for optimal results. The dual function trigger is easy to use – simply press the trigger down for air flow and pull back to control the flow of paint.

This double action comes in handy in the woodshop, where a stream of air can be used to clean dust from surfaces before painting. In the hobby room, control over paint flow allows for greater detail work when painting miniatures.

An Airbrush for Makers, Crafters, and DIYers

The Airbrush’s 0.016-inch (0.4 mm) nozzle fits a variety of applications, from painting costumes for cosplay to decorating baked goods. The nozzle size allows for the greater coverage needed in painting murals and signage, as well as the more intricate linework of body art and makeup. Hobbyists working with miniatures, 3-D prints, or model railways can achieve smooth base coats and detailed highlights with a single tool. If you’ve never used an airbrush before, you’ll be amazed at its versatility.

A Go-Anywhere Airbrush

The Airbrush connects to a go-anywhere Power Hub powered by a WORX 20V Power Share battery so you can take the Airbrush anywhere you create. The power hub transfers power to the Airbrush through a lightweight 4-foot cord, which means the Airbrush itself does not have an onboard battery – leaving it lightweight, slim, and well-balanced. A fully charged battery powers the Airbrush for up to 3 hours. The power hub and battery together weigh just over a pound, making it easy for me to move between the woodshop and hobby room.

The MAKERX Airbrush is a fun tool with countless uses, from stenciling gifts and home décor to painting textiles and pinewood derby cars. With no need for an electrical outlet and weighing around a half-pound, the MAKERX Airbrush is truly a go-anywhere crafting tool.
