Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the JawSaw weigh?

The Worx JawSaw weighs 7.9 pounds with the battery installed, about the same as a gallon of milk. Not only is the weight balanced for the best ergonomic experience for our users, the innovative jaw design helps support the weight of the tool and make it easy to use when cutting overhead branches.

I’ve seen the JawSaw described as battery-operated and electric. Which is correct?

We have two versions of the JawSaw, so they are both correct. The WG320 model is a cordless tool powered by our 20V MaxLithium batteries. Our electric JawSaw is model number WG307 and can be found here.

What’s the runtime for the JawSaw?

The runtime will vary depending on the type and density of wood you’re cutting and how thick the branches are for each cut and the capacity of the 20V battery you’re using. For example, on one charge of our 1.3Ah 20V battery, you can expect up to:

50 cuts in 2” diameter hardwood
29 cuts in 3” diameter hardwood
18 cuts in 4” diameter hardwood

Your yield may vary if you’re using softer wood, or our 4.0Ah 20V battery.

How long does it take to charge the battery?

The enclosed charger and battery take about 3 hours to fully recharge.

What is the largest branch that the JawSaw can cut?

The JawSaw can handle branches up to 4" in diameter.

What is the chain speed?

The no load speed for the Jawsaw is 1350 rpms.

Does the JawSaw come pre-assembled?

Yes, the Worx JawSaw comes fully assembled. Just oil the chain as instructed in the manual, install the fully charged battery, and you’re ready to work!

What kind of oil do I use on the JawSaw?

To oil the chain, use a winter-weight bar and chain oil which is available in most hardware stores or stores that sell chainsaws.

What is that red thing attached to my JawSaw’s cord used for?

That is the service key, which puts the JawSaw in "service mode" and prevents it from accidentally operating. When in service mode, the bar and chain can be removed & the chain can be tightened.

How do I sharpen the chain?

If you want to sharpen the chain yourself, we recommend the Oregon 25894 5/32” file with guide, and the Oregon 27742 Depth gauge and file guide, for the best results. You can also check with local hardware stores for professional sharpening services.

How do I buy a replacement bar or chain?

Both the bar (WA0162) and chain (WA0161) are available on worx.com. Click the links below to order.

JawSaw 6” Replacement Chain
JawSaw 6” Replacement Chainsaw Bar

How many chain links are on the JawSaw chain?

There are 42 links on the JawSaw chain.

What other types of replacement chain should I use?

Because of the unique design of the Worx JawSaw, we only recommend using the Worx replacement chain. Click here to order a replacement chain.

I saw an extension pole as an available accessory. Is this required for using the JawSaw?

The JawSaw can be used with or without the extension pole. The extension pole is designed to help reach branches up to 12’ high and can be quickly and easily attached or detached depending on how you need to use the JawSaw.

There are two different extension poles. How do I know which one is right for my JawSaw?

There is an extension pole for the electric JawSaw and one for the battery-operated version. Be sure to select the type of extension pole that matches your JawSaw. Click the links below for more information:

WA0169 Extension pole for Cordless/Battery-operated JawSaw (model WG320)
WA0163 Extension pole for Electric JawSaw (model WG307)

What is the weight of the tool with the Extension pole?

The total weight of the JawSaw and extension pole is 11.6 pounds.

What is the length of the JawSaw and the Extension Pole?

Jawsaw is 33 inches (or 2 ft 9 inches) and the Pole is 61.5 inches (or 5 ft 1.5 inches) in length. When used together, the total length is around 7 ft 9 inches.

If the total length of the JawSaw and extension pole is less than 8’, how can they reach up to 12’?

Working directly overhead is never a safe option when trimming limbs from trees, so the calculation isn’t based on direct reach. Since the safest way to approach tree trimming would be standing away from the branch being cut and reaching up at an angle, the total reach factors in the average height of the person using the tool as at least 4’. When standing at the base of the tree and reaching with the JawSaw at an angle, the average user can cut branches at a height of 12 or more feet.

Why do I have to pay s&h on the extension pole accessory?

The extension pole comes pre-assembled making the box an oversized box in length and therefore cost extra to ship.

Are there any precautions I should follow?

Carefully review the owner’s manual for all safety information and guidelines for the JawSaw. Follow safety precautions while using any power tools – including wearing safety eyewear, gloves, appropriate shoes & clothing, and keeping hair tied back. See the owner’s manual for complete safety instructions and details.

Men's Journal

"When the WORX JawSaw debuted, we praised it as a safer, smarter chain-saw alternative. Its steel teeth hold branches up to four inches wide while an enclosed six-inch blade makes clean, quick cuts without endangering limbs. The latest iteration, the 20V 2.0, is even better, powered by a lithium-ion battery good for 20 minutes of cord-free use."

20V JawSaw Cordless Chainsaw is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 420.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect chainsaw for my needs I have several Worx tools for lawn and brush trimming, but needed something to cut branches and thick limbs. The jaw is great for cutting old overgrown shrubs and trimming low over hanging branches. The push/pull action to engage the chain saw feels very natural. The jaws prevent the chain saw blade from skipping around and messing up the cut. What I really like is how it works on the ground. No need to prop the limb up as the blade is set back and won’t cut into the ground. The limb is pulled up into the jaws also. This makes chopping a limb into small pieces a breeze. Also the battery hasn’t failed during any of my cutting sessions. I rate that very high.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best tool purchase in years I bought this saw several weeks ago just in case I might use it. A few weeks later hurricane Michael blew through my yard knocking down several trees landing on my house and deck. I was skeptical at first thinking it would be hard on the batteries but I couldn't have been more wrong. I used it for over an hour and made over 30 large cuts and still had plenty of juice. This is by far the best saw I have ever had for cutting small limbs and brush. The design is much safer than a chain saw and actually fun to use. No gas, limited oil, easy chain tensioner and when you let off the trigger it is silent. It works as advertised and I would recommend it to any one who cuts limbs or brush.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So cool! This is the coolest thing ever! My husband told me I wasn't allowed to use a chainsaw, so when I saw this I ordered it! There is no way I'll cut off any limbs (mine, not a tree's) with this ; ). I love Worx products and am running out of room to put them all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for simple yard clean-up I have a tree that looses a few limbs per year. Previously, I used a hand saw to cut the limbs, but I'm so glad I bought the Jaw Saw. It is easy to use, lightweight, very quiet for a chainsaw, and doesn't make me feel unsafe about cutting limbs by myself.

Will the jawsaw work with a 32V worx battery?

Asked by: rappca
Yes you can. Trim off the extra ridges on the 32 volt battery that prevents it from going on. I did this on my 20volt hedge trimmers and it works fine. If you stick the chainsaw dont force it , back off and go again. Try at your own risk.

Does the cordless Jaw Saw model have greater or lesser power than the corded model?

Asked by: Pennjude

We bought one of these some time ago and love it - my question is: we bought the extension pole,( I'll tell you that is one strong little lady in the video) and it so end heavy, we can't get it in the air - is there some secret to this?

Asked by: Peg123
I Have the same problem. You have to get to the branch and secure it first. then turn it on and it will cut. I had the same problem and I was on a ladder. Get it up to the branch first secure it to the branch and then cut.
