Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the JawSaw weigh?

The Worx JawSaw weighs 7.9 pounds with the battery installed, about the same as a gallon of milk. Not only is the weight balanced for the best ergonomic experience for our users, the innovative jaw design helps support the weight of the tool and make it easy to use when cutting overhead branches.

I’ve seen the JawSaw described as battery-operated and electric. Which is correct?

We have two versions of the JawSaw, so they are both correct. The WG320 model is a cordless tool powered by our 20V MaxLithium batteries. Our electric JawSaw is model number WG307 and can be found here.

What’s the runtime for the JawSaw?

The runtime will vary depending on the type and density of wood you’re cutting and how thick the branches are for each cut and the capacity of the 20V battery you’re using. For example, on one charge of our 1.3Ah 20V battery, you can expect up to:

50 cuts in 2” diameter hardwood
29 cuts in 3” diameter hardwood
18 cuts in 4” diameter hardwood

Your yield may vary if you’re using softer wood, or our 4.0Ah 20V battery.

How long does it take to charge the battery?

The enclosed charger and battery take about 3 hours to fully recharge.

What is the largest branch that the JawSaw can cut?

The JawSaw can handle branches up to 4" in diameter.

What is the chain speed?

The no load speed for the Jawsaw is 1350 rpms.

Does the JawSaw come pre-assembled?

Yes, the Worx JawSaw comes fully assembled. Just oil the chain as instructed in the manual, install the fully charged battery, and you’re ready to work!

What kind of oil do I use on the JawSaw?

To oil the chain, use a winter-weight bar and chain oil which is available in most hardware stores or stores that sell chainsaws.

What is that red thing attached to my JawSaw’s cord used for?

That is the service key, which puts the JawSaw in "service mode" and prevents it from accidentally operating. When in service mode, the bar and chain can be removed & the chain can be tightened.

How do I sharpen the chain?

If you want to sharpen the chain yourself, we recommend the Oregon 25894 5/32” file with guide, and the Oregon 27742 Depth gauge and file guide, for the best results. You can also check with local hardware stores for professional sharpening services.

How do I buy a replacement bar or chain?

Both the bar (WA0162) and chain (WA0161) are available on worx.com. Click the links below to order.

JawSaw 6” Replacement Chain
JawSaw 6” Replacement Chainsaw Bar

How many chain links are on the JawSaw chain?

There are 42 links on the JawSaw chain.

What other types of replacement chain should I use?

Because of the unique design of the Worx JawSaw, we only recommend using the Worx replacement chain. Click here to order a replacement chain.

I saw an extension pole as an available accessory. Is this required for using the JawSaw?

The JawSaw can be used with or without the extension pole. The extension pole is designed to help reach branches up to 12’ high and can be quickly and easily attached or detached depending on how you need to use the JawSaw.

There are two different extension poles. How do I know which one is right for my JawSaw?

There is an extension pole for the electric JawSaw and one for the battery-operated version. Be sure to select the type of extension pole that matches your JawSaw. Click the links below for more information:

WA0169 Extension pole for Cordless/Battery-operated JawSaw (model WG320)
WA0163 Extension pole for Electric JawSaw (model WG307)

What is the weight of the tool with the Extension pole?

The total weight of the JawSaw and extension pole is 11.6 pounds.

What is the length of the JawSaw and the Extension Pole?

Jawsaw is 33 inches (or 2 ft 9 inches) and the Pole is 61.5 inches (or 5 ft 1.5 inches) in length. When used together, the total length is around 7 ft 9 inches.

If the total length of the JawSaw and extension pole is less than 8’, how can they reach up to 12’?

Working directly overhead is never a safe option when trimming limbs from trees, so the calculation isn’t based on direct reach. Since the safest way to approach tree trimming would be standing away from the branch being cut and reaching up at an angle, the total reach factors in the average height of the person using the tool as at least 4’. When standing at the base of the tree and reaching with the JawSaw at an angle, the average user can cut branches at a height of 12 or more feet.

Why do I have to pay s&h on the extension pole accessory?

The extension pole comes pre-assembled making the box an oversized box in length and therefore cost extra to ship.

Are there any precautions I should follow?

Carefully review the owner’s manual for all safety information and guidelines for the JawSaw. Follow safety precautions while using any power tools – including wearing safety eyewear, gloves, appropriate shoes & clothing, and keeping hair tied back. See the owner’s manual for complete safety instructions and details.

Men's Journal

"When the WORX JawSaw debuted, we praised it as a safer, smarter chain-saw alternative. Its steel teeth hold branches up to four inches wide while an enclosed six-inch blade makes clean, quick cuts without endangering limbs. The latest iteration, the 20V 2.0, is even better, powered by a lithium-ion battery good for 20 minutes of cord-free use."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw I bought this 20vJawSaw because I needed something that I could handle. My husband has a big chainsaw that is difficult to start and extremely heavy. I wanted something that I could easily start and handle and the JawSaw does just that. Now I don't have to wait til my husband has time to cut annoying tree limbs. I just pick up my JawSaw and get the job done! Best Saw ever!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am 81 years old and I love this saw. I had fun cutting limbs off the trees I always had to duck under when mowing and small trees growing along the fence line. Works great - at least so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what was needed!!!!! I bought this just a short time ago with the extension pole. Trimming the high dead branches from a ladder was awkward and to me not safe with a chain saw. The JawSaw made short work of those hard to get branches safely. Also used it to clean up a pile of branches that had fallen off other trees during storms. Now I have a nice pile of kindling and several fireplace sized logs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just bought a second JawSaw Bought the original Jaw Saw a few years ago and it is great. It is so much safer and easier to use than a chain saw. Now we just bought a new Cordless JawSaw for our son's birthday. He was always using ours, so now he has his own!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this tool I received this tool from my family as a gift. It works great. We recently had a few bad storms and a lot of branched fell and the JawSaw made it a lot easier and faster to clean up

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was hesitant, but so glad I bought my JawSaw! I love my JawSaw. We have had several trees down in our backyard and my husband is cutting up the big tree trunks with his regular chain saw. But that still leaves a ton of smaller limbs and branches. I was helping out using the big pruners, but my JawSaw is so much better! I just put it down on a tangle of small limbs and it cuts right through them. I need the pieces short enough to fit in the firepit. I have never used a chain saw before but the Jawsaw is not scary at all and it's not too heavy for me (I'm an older woman with diminished upper arm strength) although I am not using it much over my head, mostly on wood already on the ground. Great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Handy Am so glad I bought this . Easy to use, no cord to get in your way, ordered extension handle.
Date published: 2018-05-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Battery operated I am 65 and taking Chemo. I bought this saw because it may be safer. I am used to running a Stihl. Now, my opinion. Every woman any age should have one of these! Trim your sucker trees or bushes, low hanging limbs? Yes! I have given it a major workout and am very pleased. It will save you tons of time because in the time it takes your husband to decide what Stihl to buy you will have it done!! Buy an extra battery and charger! So you don't have to wait for one to charge! Greasing the bar requires a super small grease tip. Works best on green limbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Cordless My electric JawSaw was stollen and I missed it so much that I ordered the Cordless JawSaw. It is so handy to not have to worry about hooking up to electricity. For a 76 year old lady it makes it much easier for me to use. I love my Worx products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sawsome! After we lost some limbs off out trees from the last snowstorm we decided that we needed a chainsaw to help with the cleanup. The Worx JawSaw Cordless Chainsaw was the perfect solution. The JawSaw is incredibly easy to use- lightweight yet powerful. And best of all, it's a safe chainsaw that keeps the saw blade away from the user at all times. The JawSaw made our cleanup duties a snap, and we have used it on additional projects as well. The battery is long-lasting, making it easy to complete any project- and without the inconvenience of an electrical cord or the additional weight of a gas powered saw. If you need a chainsaw, you can't go wrong with the Worx JawSaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So easy to use! This is my new favorite WORX tool. I have woods behind my home with a lot of fallen trees. I was able to cut up nearly a cord of logs before the battery powered out. I have another battery, but that was enough for now. Whenever I have 15-30 minutes to spare, I'll be back in the woods making logs!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Jawsaw of Life This baby is a lifesaver! I am 69 years old and have a bad shoulder, but I can still cut hefty low limbs on trees all around my property. We had a brutal Pennsylvania winter, but in a little of no time I have been able to buzz through downed limbs to manageable chunks for our fire pit. I even took it up to our church property for landscaping cleanup and was the envy of all the guys toting heavy, loud chainsaws. The battery holds a charge about as long as I do, so I have no complaints in that department either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product easy to use. Worx needs to provide a garage wall bracket for its products. Expand offerings of products without charger. i own several don't need all the chargers.
Date published: 2018-04-19
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The JawSaw is the best wood cutting tool I have I was skeptical when I ordered the JawSaw, but it simply amazes me. Safer than my gas chainsaw, no difficulty starting it, it does what they say it will and more.
Date published: 2018-04-14
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safety All the usual fears of using a chainsaw are allayed by this design. What a relief to make a saw that is usable for those of us not so skilled in using such a tool!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just easy to use I have a yard with old trees and we get our fair share of limbs on the ground, plus I'm always trimming trees. The Jawsaw is easy to use, and makes quick work of small jobs. I like that it's battery versus gas, for these type of tasks.
