Frequently Asked Questions

How heavy is the trimmer?

The trimmer only weighs 6.3 lbs, even with the battery installed. As light as this is, the ergonomic design ensures the weight is evenly distributed between the main and auxiliary handle to make trimming a comfortable, easy-to-manage experience for anyone.

I’m really tall/short. Can I adapt the Worx GT 2.0 to my height?

Absolutely! The Worx GT 2.0 is designed to be fully adjustable from the telescoping shaft, multi-position auxiliary handle, and pivoting trimmer head. Don’t contort yourself to fit your trimmer, let the Worx GT 2.0 adapt to fit you.

Does it come pre-assembled?

Each trimmer comes with some minor assembly required, which may take up to 5 minutes per tool. A step-by-step instruction manual is included along with easy assembly instructions. Please have a #2 Phillips head screwdriver on hand when assembling your GT 2.0.

How do I convert the GT from Trimmer to Edger? How do I use the Mini-Mower feature?

Converting your trimmer from Trimmer to Edger, or to a Mini-Mower is quick and easy. For your convenience, we’ve included all the steps in a short 2 minute video you can watch online.

How long can you trim on each 20 Volt Max Lithium battery charge?

Each 4.0Ah 20 Volt Max Lithium Battery will provide enough working time per charge to trim up to the average 1/2 acre yard on one charge. It’s like having two batteries in one! Actual results may vary depending on the density of the grass or weeds you’re cutting or the age of the battery pack.

How many batteries come with this trimmer?

The Worx GT 2.0 (WG160.4) comes with two 20V 4.0Ah batteries.

Is the battery larger than previous models?

The Worx GT 2.0 features our highest capacity battery to date. The 20 Volt Max Lithium Battery on the included with the Worx GT 2.0 edger/trimmer has an amp hour rating of 4.0 vs our previous models (2.0 and 1.3 amp hour rating). The amp hour rating measures how much energy can be stored in the battery (energy capacity). The Worx GT 2.0 4.0 Ah battery can hold twice the amount of energy as previous models in the same size due to advanced battery chemistry. This means the WG160.4 model has up to double the run time as the WG160.3 model.

I already have some 20V Worx batteries, will they work in this tool?

Yes! Powershare lets you share batteries and save money. Any 20V Worx battery you already own will be compatible with this tool, and the batteries included in this package will work on the 20V Worx tools you already have.

What’s the difference between the WG160.4 and the previous WG160.3?

The difference between the two model numbers is the battery. The WG160.4 features a 4.0Ah battery where the WG160.3 features a 2.0Ah battery. This means the WG160.4 model has up to double the run time as the WG160.3 model. You also receive a faster charger with the WG160.4 that will completely recharge your battery in about 2 hours compared to the charger included with the WG160.3 model, which takes about 3-5 hours.

What is the horsepower rating of Worx lithium tools?

Battery powered DC motors are not rated for horsepower as output power is only measured with gas or induction AC (corded) motors. Worx lithium powered products were designed with sufficient power to get the job done quickly & easily.

How long does it take to charge the 20 Volt Max battery?

It takes about 2 hours to fully charge the battery with the included charger.

Are lithium batteries interchangeable with the Ni-Cad?

Our lithium tools and Ni-Cd tools are separate platforms and are not interchangeable. Lithium batteries offer our customers maintenance-free technology without the hassle of managing the memory effect inherent in Ni-Cad batteries.

What’s the Free Spools for Life offer? How do I get them?

Each Worx GT 2.0 String Trimmer / Edger / Mini-Mower includes three (3) pre-loaded spools of cutting line to get you started. Extra spools are free of charge as long as you own your trimmer; you just cover the cost of shipping and handling any time you need more! To order, click here.

Are the spools available in stores?

Some stores do offer spools for sale in smaller packs, and while these may be the answer if you run out and need them right away, we recommend taking advantage of the Free Spools for Life program benefits included with the purchase of your trimmer.

Can other cutting line be used with the Worx GT?

Our Double Helix line is specially designed to work with the Worx GT 2.0 for efficient automatic feeding, and a quicker and more efficient cut to help you maintain a healthy, professionally groomed lawn. With the purchase of your Worx GT 2.0, you’re automatically enrolled in our Free Spools for Life program. You get free spools pre-loaded with 10 feet of line anytime you need them; just pay shipping and handling for each package of 6.

If you decide to use traditional line, the Worx lithium powered GT 2.0 can accept standard 0.065” cutting line found at any garden or home center, however the automatic feed function isn’t guaranteed to work properly.

Can I use the tool without the safety guard? I have experience with other trimmers and will be the only one using it.

The safety guard is an essential part of the tool. Not only does it keep you safe from any debris from the trimming/edging, it also helps regulate the length of the cutting line. Without the safety guard, your Worx GT 2.0 will not operate properly and you are at risk for injury.

Are there any precautions I should follow when using the Worx GT 2.0?

Always wear the proper safety gear and maintain a clean, safe workspace. For more information, please check out the owner’s manual.

What is the guarantee/warranty?

If you decide the Worx GT 2.0 isn’t the right trimmer for you, we offer a 30-day Money Back Guarantee from date of receipt (less shipping and handling). Please call our customer service center at 1-866-354-9679 (Worx) and we’ll be happy to assist. For more information, click here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This weed eater is a monster! I bought the worx and it was lost in the mail and I just wanted my money back rather than go thru any problems. I received the 2nd one and after charging the battery and completing my front yard I was in love with this product. I ran it for 2-3 hours and only used 1/2 the battery and that was impressive. It does everything advertised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed & easy to use I worked in industrial product design for 40 years. This is a well designed product. Assembled product with one screw. Rated 5 out of 5 by from My mom loves it! My mom saw one on an infomercial, so I did her one better and upgraded to the 2.0! She absolutely loves it! All the adjustments and simple switching from trimmer to edges to mower leaves this very easy for her to handle at 67 years old! BUT, it's also a brute and takes care of all my needs at my property also! The 2 batteries is definitely a plus. So genius and practical, a must have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Glad I Purchased I owned a Worx trimmer many years ago, and when it gave up the ghost I decided to try a gas trimmer & edger. Bad move. When the gas unit worked, it worked well. But, when it didn't, it was the biggest pain ever...mixing gas and oil, choke and priming before starting, changing plugs, changing edger blades, changing trimmer line, and on, and on. I finally got fed up with it after five years and two gas trimmers and decided to try the Worx trimmer again. I didn't want to hassle with changing batteries halfway through the job of edging and trimming, so I purchased the Hi-Capacity (4.0Ah) model. Comparing it to the gas trimmer was like night and day...WOW! much easier to use. It's much lighter, and so easy to change from trimming to edging. My wife even said the edging looks as if it was done by a professional! The only regret I have is that I waited so long to buy another Worx, and now I'm stuck with all these leftover parts for the gas trimmer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worx tools are by far the best I've ever owned. I use my string trimmer weekly as well as my blower. They are lite but powerful enough to get the job done. I am a 69 year old widow and I try to do all my yard work. I hope to eventually replace all my tools with Worx .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I ever wanted This tool does it all. Very easy to use and very efficient.
Date published: 2017-10-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two batteries necessary for 1.5 average size lawn. Performance in cutting and easiness in assembling, morphing to the other features is significantly effective. Exceptionally Lighweight and non-cord feature is a must. Two batteries and two spools is probably standard for an average southern California lawn with small backyard. It's a great investment who treats their lawn appearance also as an investment.
Date published: 2017-10-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great Very happy with this item. The beefed-up battery was a good investment, it lasts a good long time (I get tired before the battery does). The only improvement I can think of would be to make the wheel height (for teh mini-mower function) adjustable.

Where do I order?

Asked by: Olebill

The upgraded GT trimer with the 40volt battery does it make the trimmer more powerful or just run longer? I don't want to have a bigger battery that I can't use with other worx tools just to get more time. I will just use two batteries.

Does the GT trimmer vibrate you when you are using it?

Asked by: Bethdancer
It does what I call a tiny bit. Nothing like a regular weedeater. After an injury I got the GT. The vibration was not a visual vibration as such. But I could only use it for one battery's worth of time. Then my hand would swell. Now I can use it for 2 batteries worth of time. I used to weedeat 6-8 hours a day, 6 days a week. This GT has been a life-saver for me. The GT wasn't made for the work I used to do, but now I don't feel useless anymore.

You actually have to order the "Free Spools For Life 6-Pack".  There is no cost for the spools, however, I do believe you may have to pay a small shipping fee if I remember right.

How come the string feeds out to about 18" and sometime the string breaks off leaving half of the string in the spool and seems to be fused together.

Asked by: Sonny 1947
I have weedeated for years and all weedeaters have that problem at some time. How tight and in-line that you wind the string will make a difference. If you are getting 18 inches when the maximum you want is 12, then the string is too loosely wound. If the string is fused together it is done by friction and heat. Winding the string evenly all across the bottom, then all across the next level, then all across the next level, etc, without crossing over any (like making an x) -- which my husband was good at, and I have more trouble doing -- you are less likely to get that 'fused' twine. But it is a part of using a weedeater. Good luck. Patience. Practice.
