WORX recently expanded its popular line of cordless lawn-and-garden tools with the introduction of the Garden Shear Shrubber. This cleverly designed 2-and-1 tool is a combination grass shear and hedge trimmer. It comes with two interchangeable blades—4-in. shearing blade and 8-in. trimmer blade—that you can switch on and off in a matter of seconds without using any tools. (Caution: Always remove the battery before changing blades.)
Here’s What You Should Know
Unlike the typical 3.6-volt or 7.2-volt shears, which are notoriously weak, the WORX Shrubber has a powerful 20-volt lithium-ion battery that provides superior run time and the brute strength necessary to plow through the thickest grass and toughest stalks and branches.
The 4-in. shearing blade is ideal for trimming grass and weeds along sidewalks, fences, patios, flowerbeds, and around trees and other places you can’t reach with your lawnmower. Switch to the 8-in. trimmer blade to cut back and neatly reshape hedges and shrubs. The Shrubber weighs just 2 lbs., with the battery attached, making it safe and comfortable to use and maneuver.
The Shrubber is part of the WORX 20-volt Power Share program, so it’s sold as a bare tool($40), and as a complete kit($80) that includes the Shrubber, shearing blade, trimmer blade, one 20-volt 1.5 Amp-hour battery, battery charger and a protective sheath for each blade.
Also available is an optional wheeled extension handle ($40) that allows you trim grass while comfortably standing upright. The handle adjusts from 27 in. to 44 in. long to accommodate users of various heights.
