How long does it take to install Landroid?
The amount of time required to install your Landroid typically depends on the size of your lawn and number of obstacles. Generally, an installation can take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours.
What’s included in the box? Will I need additional tools?
WR140 - Landroid M
  • Wire - 180M (590ft)
  • Pegs - 250 pegs
WR150 - Landroid L
  • Wire - 250M (820ft.)
  • Pegs - 270 pegs
Included with both -
  • (9) spare cutting blades and screws (blades already assembled on the unit)
  • (2) waterproof wire connectors
  • (1) 20V 4Ah battery
  • (1) Charging base station
Additional tools needed
You will need a hammer or mallet to secure the pegs, scissors or wire strippers to strip boundary wire before inserting into charging base, and a level. A medium duty extension cord rated for outdoor use could be necessary if you do not have a power outlet within 32 feet of the location where you will be placing your charging base.
Do you need to install boundary wire?
Yes, boundary wire is necessary to create a working area for your Landroid. Landroid will only operate within a boundary that is created by the boundary wire. Without boundary wire your Landroid would run into obstacles like fences and trees, enter flower beds, or in yards without a fence it will travel outside of your property.
What if I have an electric dog fence?
If you have an existing dog fence the checkbox frequency of the wire from the dog fence could interfere with the checkbox frequency of the Landroid boundary wire, rendering both fences inoperative. Landroid is not recommended to be installed within 3 feet of an existing dog fence.
How does Landroid handle obstacles?
Landroid handles larger obstacles by bumping into them and turning around. The Anti-Collision System (ACS)accessory is available as an add-on to help your Landroid sense obstacles via ultrasonic detection and navigate around them instead of running over or bumping into them. Smaller obstacles like dog toys or sticks will get run over by Landroid and could get caught in the cutting disc.
Can it avoid Falling into pools and mowing over rock beds, sticks, leaves?
When placing your boundary wire you should avoid areas that you do not want Landroid to enter like pools, ponds, rock beds or gravel. The Off-Limitsdigital fence accessory is available as an add-on to make it easier to exclude these types of areas from Landroid’s mowing area. Although Landroid can manage certain non-permanent obstacles such as sticks, leaves and dog toys, it is best to monitor your yard periodically to collect these items to prevent Landroid from running over or getting caught on these objects.
How does it know the boundaries to cut without a fence?
The boundary wire emits a checkbox frequency that lets Landroid know where it can mow. If Landroid is placed outside of its boundary it will not mow and will notify you that it is outside of its cutting area.
Can you trench the wire?
Although it is not necessary, the boundary wire can be trenched. The Landroid wire should not be buried more than 2 inches (5 cm). Pegs are provided in the box to pin the boundary wire flush with the surface of your lawn.
Ideal placement of the charging base?
The charging base should be placed on a completely flat surface near a power outlet. Be sure to remove rocks, sticks and other obstacles from the area. Ensure that the grass is trimmed beneath the charging base. Place the charging base in an area that doesn’t get an excessive amount of sun exposure to prevent heating of the lithium battery.
Where can I get additional wire?
Additional wire can be purchased directly from worx.com, or from a local hardware store that carries 20 AWG, stranded low voltage wire.
How do you use the included couplers to add additional wire or splice disrupted wire back together?
The total length of boundary wire including spliced wire should not exceed 1145 ft. Wire can be spliced together to mend broken wire or add additional wire using the included plastic wire couplers but it is best to have the least amount of splices possible as it creates weak points in the wire.
What should I do if my front and back yard are separated by a fence?
If your front and back lawn are separated by a fence the Landroid must have a gate or a path to move through the fence. The Landroid can travel over a driveway to get to the secondary mowing area if needed, but the wires must be run through 2 separate expansion joints in the concrete. A secondary solution when Landroid is not able to pass through a fence would be to create a second boundary by purchasing an additional charging base station. The Landroid would need to be manually moved between the two areas.
How does Landroid handle inclines?
Landroid handles up to 35% incline or 20°.
How can I calculate the slope?
Two stakes can be placed 100 inches apart. With one stake at the bottom of the slope with the other on the slope. Tie a string to the bottom of the stake on the slope, ensure that it’s leveled and tie it to the other stake. Measure the distance from the string to the ground. Then add this to the formula. With one stake at the bottom of the slope with the other on the slope. Tie a string to the bottom of the stake on the slope, ensure that it’s leveled and tie it to the other stake. Measure the distance from the string to the ground.
Is it safe to store outside when not being used?
Between mowing cycles the Landroid is designed to be housed outside, although it is recommended that Landroid be brought indoors in severe weather(High wind, hail, flooding). If Landroid will not be mowing for a significant amount of time you will want to store in temperature-controlled environment. Refer to winterizing FAQ.
What happens to the grass clippings, do I need to collect them?
Landroid mows more often than a traditional mower and trims a little off the top during each mow cycle. Clippings are left on your lawn, nourishing your grass.
How long does it mow on one charge?
Mow time can vary drastically, due to several factors including your terrain, slopes, and the number of obstacles it must navigate around in your lawn. The amount of time it can mow on one charge becomes irrelevant because Landroid trims your yard each day maintaining a consistently healthy lawn height and will charge itself when it needs to. Working times can be easily adjusted to mow more or less frequently if needed.
Does it know when the battery is low?
When the battery is running low Landroid will follow the boundary wire back to its charging base and fully charge itself before heading out to mow at the next scheduled date and time.
Can you program it to mow in straight lines?
Landroid will not mow in straight lines. Landroid mows according to an algorithm which to us appears to be a random pattern. Since Landroid mows more frequently it will create a carpeting effect on your lawn leaving your grass completely even.
Can it cut grass when it’s raining?
The Landroid has a rain sensor that detects rain and will delay its mowing cycle until the rain has passed or return to the charging base if it is currently mowing. You will receive a notification via the app when Landroid has been put on rain delay. The Landroid can mow wet grass and mow while raining but it is not recommended as it can cause unnecessary grass build up in the mowing deck. Additionally, it is best practice to schedule Landroid’s mowing time after morning dew has dried.
Can Landroid handle thick or tall grass?
The Landroid maintains your lawn by cutting off only a small amount of grass at a time. It is not designed to mow overgrown or especially tall grass. Depending on your grass height you may need to mow your lawn to its optimal length before installing Landroid. The Landroid can easily maintain thick or high-density grasses.
What is the Cut-to-Edge feature?
Landroid features an offset blade which allows the Landroid to mow to the edge of the mowing deck minimizing the amount of trimming needed to as little as 2 in. (4.5 cm).
How does the multi-zone feature work?
Zones are areas in your yard that are naturally divided by a narrow path. A zone will be a starting point from the wire at which you Landroid will know to begin from when mowing. Zones allow the Landroid to mow certain areas more or less frequently than others and can be programmed both from the app and the Landroid itself.
Can I use my smartphone to gauge how far my wifi reaches?
The Landroid uses a different antenna than your smartphone therefore just because you have Wi-Fi in the furthermost portion of you yard on your smartphone, it does not mean Landroid will also have signal.
Is Landroid equipped with theft prevention?
The Find My Landroid module is an optional accessory that is included with the purchase of the WR143 and WR153 models, or available for purchase separately. Once activated, the GPS module will keep your Landroid constantly connected via cellular network, as long as Landroid has battery power. The app will notify you if the Landroid is removed from its cutting area. You will then be able to track Landroid’s location. There is also a built-in alarm that will trigger if the Landroid is picked up.
How does Landroid handle large obstacles? Will it run over my dog or kids?
All Landroids are designed with safety as our highest priority, minimizing the risk to people or pets within the mowing area. When the Landroid encounters an obstacle (including a person or a pet), it is designed to gently bump the obstacle, stop and turn around. The optional Anti-Collision System (ACS) allows Landroid to detect obstacles and turn before bump them. Additionally, the Landroid senses if it is picked up, cuts power to the cutting disc.
What happens if Landroid strays outside of the mowing area?
If Landroid strays outside the mowing area it will recognize that it is outside of the boundary and will not operate. Additionally, you will get a notification in the app letting you know that Landroid is outside of its perimeter.
Does Landroid have a security pin and how do I know what the security pin is?
Landroid features a security pin which keeps the Landroid locked and prevents others from being able to access it. Landorid is shipped with a default security pin that should be changed before the first use.
What is the lock function on the Landroid?
The lock function will set an alarm if lifted and taken outside of the perimeter of your lawn. It will only stop beeping if returned within the perimeter and placed on the ground. If stolen, your Landroid will stop operating once outside your Wi-Fi network coverage for three consecutive days. If the Find My Landroid Module is installed it will use the geofence as the perimeter limit.
How large should I set my Geofence?
The geofence should be set large enough so that it covers the entire Landroid boundary plus an additional 30ft radius to account for GPS inaccuracy.
Will my Landroid need regular maintenance?
Landroid needs very minor maintenance. It’s mostly common sense in taking care of your valuable new product:
  • Keep its body and underside clean by removing built up grass and debris. Remember blades are sharp. Always remove battery before performing any maintenance.
  • Periodically remove grass clippings and debris build-up from contact pins & charge strips.
  • Rotate or change blades once every 4 months or as needed. Refer to your owner’s manual for instruction.
  • Replace the battery as needed.
  • We recommend storing your Landroid in a shed or garage during the winter.
For more detailed maintenance information, please refer to the Owner’s Manual.
How should I store my Landroid away for the winter?
Use your best judgement based on your geographical location to know when it is time to stop mowing your lawn and store Landroid away for the winter. It is best practice to clean your Landroid by removing any dirt, debris, and grass clippings before storing in your garage, shed, or other enclosure.
How long will the blades last?
Blades should be checked regularly and replaced when required. Blade disc will automatically invert rotation direction on every start to ensure both cutting edges of the cutting blades are used. A set of blades can last up to 4 months in ideal conditions but may dull quickly if you have lots of sticks or obstacles in your yard. Your Landroid comes with 9 replacement blades.
Are replacement parts available?
Wearable replacement parts such as wire and blades can be found on our website, by following this link. For additional, inquiries about spare parts please contact our customer service at 1-800-727-6260.
Can the Landroid be controlled remotely from the Landroid app?
With the all new Landroid app you can control your Landroid remotely if it is connected to WiFi or the Find My Landroid Module. You can do things like tell it to mow, send Landroid home to its charging station, change the schedule, and view Landroid’s activity log.

The app will also auto-update firmware, so that your Landroid is always running on the latest version. Auto-updates can be turned off if desired, and manually updated through the app when available.
Will the app provide notifications?
If you allow the Landroid app to send notifications (in the settings section of your smartphone), the Landroid app will provide notifications such as letting you know if Landroid is stuck, if the boundary wire is disrupted, if Landroid is on rain delay, or if Landroid has been taken from its mowing area.
Can I control multiple Landroids with my app?
Yes, the Landroid app allows you to control up to 10 Landroids under the same account, allowing you to easily switch between the units to monitor status and update programming. If enabled on your smartphone, notifications are sent for all Landroids on the account.
Can I change my Security Pin using the app?
No, the Security pin can only be changed using the interface on the Landroid.
Do I need the app?
No, you do not need the app to use Landroid. It does, however, allow you to stay connected to your Landroid and updated on its progress and is highly recommended to optimize your Landroid experience.
How do the accessories work?
The Landroid accessories are add-ons that allow you to customize your Landroid to the unique needs of your lawn.

FAQS
Questions about 1st Generation Landroid M? Learn more here.
How do I set my Landroid’s mowing schedule?
First, determine how long it will take Landroid to mow your yard — you can use the Auto Mowing Time Schedule chart found in the Owner’s Manualas a starting point. Then identify the days and time periods you want to mow. Be sure to factor in adequate time for charging.
How do I start my Landroid?
It’s simple, once correctly set-up and programmed. Just open the key pad lid, press Start, then close the lid. If Landroid doesn’t work, double-check the “Turn on and test the installation” section of the Installation Guide. Or if you have previously set it one up, just wait for the next scheduled mowing cycle and Landroid will start itself.
Okay, give it to me straight:How difficult will it be to install my Landroid?
It’s easy to set up Landroid by yourself. Just follow the steps on the Installation Guideor watch the coaching video here.
How long will it take to install my Landroid?
That depends on the size and complexity of your lawn. It generally takes 2-4 hours for installation. We strongly recommend you read the Installation Guideand the Owner’s Manualcompletely.
What will I need to install my Landroid?
Not much. You’ll just need:

  • simple tools — a hammer/rubber mallet and a wire cutter
  • power — an appropriate electrical outlet where the Landroid can be connected
  • area — a good location for Landroid’s charging station, either covered or uncovered

Everything else you need is included in the box.
Where should I place my charging station?
Pretty much anywhere. It can even be located outside of the lawn area (i.e., mulched area of adjacent garden) as long as there are 3 feet on the front or back side of the charging station and the wires can be properly installed going into and out of the charging station. (See “Placing the Charging Base” in the Installation Guide for more tips.)
There are lots of obstacles in my yard, how do I factor those when I install my Landroid?
To protect Landroid and your property, you’ll need to install what’s called an “island” around any obstacle under 6” high that can damage Landroid or any item that might be damaged or destroyed if Landroid bumps into it. (See the “Pegging your boundary wire” section in the Installation Guidefor more details on creating an island.)
Will I need to collect any grass shavings after my Landroid mows the lawn?
First, determine how long it will take Landroid to mow your yard – you can use the Auto Mowing Time Schedule chart found in the Owner’s Manual as a starting point. Then identify the days and time periods you want to mow. Be sure to factor in adequate time for charging.
What happens if it rains?
Landroid can continue mowing during rain. However, it typically will automatically return to its charging station until the rain stops or the next mowing cycle.
What if Landroid needs to recharge while it’s mowing?
Landroid is smart and self-sufficient. It will automatically make its way to its charging station and once it’s recharged it will continue mowing. Time for charging is included in the scheduled mowing cycle times.
Will my Landroid need regular maintenance?
Landroid needs very minor maintenance. It’s mostly common sense in taking care of your valuable new product:
  • Keep its body and underside clean.
  • Periodically remove grass clipping and debris build-up from contact pins & charge strips.
  • Rotate/flip and change blades as instructed.
  • Replace the battery as needed.
  • We recommend storing your Landroid in a shed or garage during the winter.
For more detailed maintenance information, please refer to the Owner’s Manual.
How often will I need to rotate the blades and how do I do it?
To extend the life of the blades, they should be rotated/flipped monthly. Don’t worry, it’s easy:Just use a Phillips screwdriver to remove and reinstall the blades.
How long will the blades last?
That depends on how often you use your Landroid, among other factors. However, if you’re rotating/flipping as directed, a set of blades can last up to 4 months.
What happens if my Landroid is lifted or turns over during operation?
Landroid has sensors to detect if it’s lifted or flipped over. Once either has been detected, the cutting system stops immediately.
How can I prevent someone from stealing my Landroid?
You can program a security PIN to prevent unauthorized users. Landroid also has an alarm with an adjustable volume level.

Function Messages

Raining
When it senses rain, Landroid will return to its charging base and stay there either until dry or until the delay time period passes. Once it’s dry, Landroid will automatically begin the delay and countdown and then return to mow. If you want Landroid to mow before this, simply turn it off then on again, but only when the rain sensor is dry, or you can set the delay time to 0 min.
Locating Charger Base
Landroid needs to recharge — during the journey to its base, the cutting blade is stopped in order to save energy.
Waiting for Scheduled Time
Landroid is on stand-by, mowing will start according to the program you’ve set.
Searching Working Area
Landroid is searching a certain area to mow.
Charge Completed
Landroid has completed its charging. Even though it’s charged, it will not mow until a scheduled time.

Error Messages

Outside of Working Area
1. If Landroid is outside its territory:turn power off, move Landroid inside its territory, then turn power on.

2. If Landroid is inside its territory:confirm that the LED on the charging base is green. If not, confirm that the charging base is connected properly to the charger and the charger is connected to a suitable power supply. If so, most likely the boundary wire ends are clamped incorrectly, and you need to reverse them.

3. If the LED light flashes green:confirm the boundary wire is correctly connected to the clamps of the charging base. If the problem persists, confirm that the boundary wire hasn’t been cut.
Trapped
1. Turn power off.

2. Move Landroid to an area in your lawn that’s free of obstacles.

3. Turn power on.

4. If the error message is still displayed, turn power off, turn Landroid over and check if there’s any debris causing a blockage in the top cover.

5. Remove any possible obstruction, turn Landroid upright, then turn power on.
