Keepin’ it Clean with Worx

The right pressure washer is one of the most versatile and handy tools any homeowner can have at their disposal. Want to get rid of that mildew on your deck? How about that oil stain in the driveway? Is the siding on your house looking dingy? All these cleaning tasks around your home are hard, time-consuming work when done by hand. A pressure washer gets these jobs done faster and better. An electric pressure washer by Worx is designed to be lightweight and compact, engineered for efficiency and convenience, and is kinder to the planet than gas-powered models.

The Things You’ll Clean

Surfaces of all kinds can be restored to their former glory when cleaned with a pressure washer. And you’ll love doing it, too. Once a Worx pressure washer gets in our customer’s hands, it’s not uncommon for them to scour their property looking for new things to clean—it’s just that fun.

We’ve already mentioned your deck, driveway, and siding. Let’s grow the list to include fences, outdoor furniture, patios, bicycles, boats, motorcycles, RVs and more. Use it on brick, concrete, masonry, glass (windows), wood, tile, stone, and other surfaces with the appropriate pressure and watch the magic happen. Hook it up to a garden hose, and you’re ready to clean like never before.

Compare Pressure Washer Options: Electric vs Gas-Powered

Before you buy a pressure washer, you have to ask yourself how much power you really need to accomplish the various kinds of cleaning you need to do. A good electric pressure washer is far more suitable for most homeowners than gas-powered alternatives. Gas-powered pressure washers are largely for professional commercial operations because they need the extra power. More importantly, professionals know how to use them without hurting themselves or damaging the items or surfaces they are cleaning.

The combustion motor needed on a gas-powered pressure washer is much bigger than electric motors. There also must be a gas tank to hold the fuel. Because these machines are designed for professionals, the hose is going to stretch longer than most homeowners will ever need. All these features mean gas-powered machines are bigger, bulkier, and much heavier than the electric pressure washers that will satisfy any homeowner’s needs.

The difference here is no joke. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a gas-powered pressure washer that weighs under 60 pounds, and it’s going to take up significantly more room in your garage—where storage space is scarce to begin with. By contrast, the Worx 1500 PSI model is about the size of a toolbox (17 inches long, 12 inches high) and weighs only 15.8 pounds. Our 1600 PSI model sits in a vertical rolling cart frame with wheels and includes a handy hose reel, and it still only weighs about 29 pounds.

It’s also worth mentioning that by burning gasoline to power the machine, you’re producing polluting emissions that have negative impacts on both human health and the planet’s atmosphere. An electric model has environmental impacts as well, depending on how the electricity is produced, but cleaner electricity is on the rise. If you buy a gas-powered machine, you are guaranteed to be polluting the environment every time you use it.

Pressure and Flow: Key Pressure Washing Metrics

The combination of pressure, measured in PSI (pounds per square inch), and flow in GPM (gallons per minute) are the key metrics for determining the cleaning effectiveness of any pressure washer. Keep in mind what you need around your home is not the same as what professionals need. Many gas-powered pressure washers reach PSI ranges well above 2,500 and GPM ratings of 2.5 and higher. Those are heavy-duty machines, far more powerful than most homeowners need.

The Worx WG601 smaller model is 1500 PSI (2000 max) and 1.2 GPM (1.85 max). Our WG604 larger model is 1600 PSI (2240 max) and 1.3 GPM (1.93 max). These metrics mean either one of our models is more than powerful enough to handle the cleaning tasks around your home. The WG604 was featured on the Popular Mechanics Best Pressure Washers 2021 list with the following review:

“Here’s what we like about this Worx: It’s small, light, rolls easily, and is reasonably resistant to tipping. Its hose reel works well. As to its cleaning ability, it punches above its weight class, moving it surprisingly close to the mid-duty end of the spectrum despite its low PSI and flow. Given those small numbers, we were surprised at how productive it is. We plugged the turbo nozzle in and cleaned 30 feet of sidewalk in no time, blasted off the front stoop, cleaned out some baggy cobwebs that formed around the front door and its overhang, reeled the hose back, unplugged the thing, and called it a day. One last word: We like the dial on its detergent cap that lets you select how much or little cleaner you want to apply. The quarter cap itself is a bit fussy, but the idea is great.”

Safety First: Using Your Worx Pressure Washer

While the risk of injury and damage with a Worx pressure washer is much less than most gas-powered models, you still want to take proper safety precautions. Wear safety goggles and closed-toe shoes. If you have a variety of nozzle accessories with your pressure washer, start off with the least powerful one and see how it goes. You can always switch to a more powerful nozzle if needed, but you can’t undo the surface damage done by using too powerful a spray of water.
