The MAKERX Rotary tool ships with a 1/8 in. collet, and can use any standard collet on the market.
The MAKERX Rotary tool accepts all standard rotary tool accessories, provided the proper collet is in place.
These recommendations will help maximize the performance of your tool, and achieve the best results.
- Do not subject the tool or accessory to heavy load. Use light, constant pressure. Pushing harder typically does not improve removal rate or performance. Be patient and let the tool work as designed.
- Allow the tool to reach target rotation speed before engaging the work piece. Use the fastest rotation possible while still achieving desired results. Typically, tougher materials require faster rotation speeds.
- Clamp the workpiece whenever possible. A moving work piece is more likely to create a pinching or binding situation.
When using a cutting wheel, keep the wheel straight in the cut. If the wheel is twisted, it will tend to grab and climb out of the cut. The tool will shut off in an effort to prevent this situation, which is called kickback.
If the tool does stop suddenly, press the power button to turn it off. Remove the accessory from the workpiece. Turn the tool back on and allow the rotation to build to target speed. This may take between 1.5 to 3 seconds. Resume the work gradually. If cutting, take care to follow the cut path already established. Do not twist or bind the blade.
The 1/4" arbor adapter allows the grinder to use Dremel® EZ-Lock™ wheels.

Note: The MakerX Grinder is designed to help the user make straight cuts. The tool body and wheel are lined up. When held, the user’s forearm and hand are lined up with the blade and tool. Pull the Grinder and wheel through the cut, in line with the hand and forearm.
- If the tool does stop suddenly, press the power button to turn it off. Remove the accessory from the work piece. Turn the tool back on and allow the rotation to build to target speed. Water-based paints are recommended for the MakerX. If some other paint is required, make sure the paint is thin enough to pass through the nozzle without out clogging. Experiment on a scrap piece to make sure the result is acceptable. Clean the nozzle and cup immediately and thoroughly after use. Follow the paint manufacturers recommendation for cleaning solutions. Be sure to flush any solutions out of the nozzle using water. Spray air through the nozzle to dry it completely after cleaning.
A fully charged 1.5Ah battery will power the Air Brush for about 3 hours of continuous use.
To maintain best operation, refrain from disassembling the spray gun. Before shipment, it is carefully assembled and calibrated for dependable operation. The spray gun need not be disassembled for cleaning.
Water-based paint is recommended. When painting is concluded, clean the spray gun right away. Allowing paint to dry inside the nozzle can render the spray gun inoperable.
- Dump excess paint from the cup and wipe it out. Rinse out the cup with water.
- Attach the spray gun to the compressor. Attach the Air Brush to the hub. Open the tail screw for high liquid flow. Drop a small amount of water in the cup. Leave the cap off of the cup.
- Make sure the speed knob is turned to low on the hub. While holding the compressor, turn on the Air Brush. Place a finger over the nozzle to prevent liquid from coming out. Gently push the trigger and pull it back. The water and paint will begin to bubble up in the cup.
- Let the air, water, and paint bubble up for a few seconds, then empty the cup. Add clean water in the cup and repeat the bubbling operation several times. Once the bubbles become thin and clear, the paint is mostly cleaned out.
- Remove your finger from the nozzle and spray water through it. Check that the water is clean and clear.
- Dump remaining water from the cup and wipe it dry. Spray air through the nozzle until dry air comes out. The spray gun should now be clean, dry, and ready to use later.
- If your paint is not water-based, follow the manufacturer’s instructions regarding cleaning solutions. Follow the same bubbling procedure as described above. Make sure to flush out any remaining solution completely. Dry out the cup and nozzle.
